Warrant of arrest issued against Goldenscape CEO Peter Wangai in Sh19M scandal
A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest for Goldenscape CEO Peter Wangai after he missed a court proceeding.
Peter Wangai was scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning but failed to show up during the hearing of a case in which he was accused of defrauding Kenyans their investments amounting to millions of shillings through the collapsed greenhouse business.
Peter was to appear in court in late March for the hearing, but his lawyer informed the court that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and requested a plea be postponed.
The hearing was then rescheduled but he failed to show up again.
The matter will come up for mentioning on May 17.
Goldenscape greenhouse scandal
The Director of Public Prosecutions will charge the Goldenscape founder with 360 criminal charges which are contained in 18 separate files.
Mr. Wangai denied 21 counts of fraud-related charges informed the court that he was only a director of Goldenscape company.
“Wangai, through his company, lured investors to invest in greenhouses that were to be set up in Ol Kalou, Nyahururu and other places which turned out to be a fraudulent investment deal,” read a statement by DCI.
