UDA, New England condemns violence against Dennis Itumbí.
UDA, New England condemns the violence against UDA political strategist, Dennis Itumbí. Attacks, intimidation, or threats against political opponents, regardless of different ideologies are unacceptable and cannot be allowed to pass by. The Government of Kenya 🇰🇪 must take immediate and effective measures to protect all Kenyans, irrespective of their political beliefs.

We come together today to call on the Government of Kenya 🇰🇪 to protect civilians and to arrest the perpetrators responsible for the political brutal attack against Dennis Itumbí and hold them accountable. We also express our grave concern about the political victimization of UDA leaning political activists, supporters and politicians . The safety of all Kenyans is squarely under the care of the President and all his other government departments and agencies . We demand that he clearly and unambiguously denounce the violence, call for immediate arrest of the brutal attackers of Mr. Dennis Itumbi. He should allow and facilitate inclusive social and political solutions in Kenya 🇰🇪 geared towards an atmosphere of political tolerance.

The use of lethal and non-lethal weapons against citizens with different political opinions in ways that violate, both Kenyan law and international human rights standards is uncalled for.

All efforts by the government should be geared towards solutions, starting with immediate-term efforts to stop such violence from spiraling.

Specifically, we ask that the Republic of kenya 🇰🇪:

1. Issue clear, unambiguous, and public statements condemning the attack on Dennis Itumbí. The government should make it clear by word and actions that these numerous and frequent abuses need to stop. There should be no ambiguity about the kenya government’s public criticism of such brutal misconduct.

2. To respect and guarantee the work of political rights defenders and their supporters. Political party supporters should never face attacks and aggressions by security force personnel or political opponents operatives.

3. Publicly reject political innuendoes by high government officials, politicians, and others implying that the attack on Dennis Itumbí was stage managed. Such rhetoric trivializes the crime meted on the citizens and serves as a dangerous pretext to justify an even harsher escalation of violence against civilians.
