Barely a month after the One Kenya Alliance was formed, cracks have emerged over claims that some forces are pushing for a specific preferred presidential line-up.

The alliance brings together Amani National Congress (ANC) party boss Musalia Mudavadi, KANU's Gideon Moi, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula had during its launch promised a 'political earthquake' ahead of the 2022 General Election.

However, the Kalonzo camp is said to be becoming jittery over a proposed Mudavadi-ticket to fly the alliance's flag in the upcoming poll that would lock him and Wetang'ula from the nerve centre of power.

A Member of Parliament allied to Kalonzo told the publication Wiper was concerned about a scheme allegedly made by outside forces to install candidates of their choice that excludes the veteran Ukambani politician.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has ruled out the possibility of its leader Raila Odinga working with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of 2022.

The outfit's chairman John Mbadi who doubles up as Suba South MP said ODM's focus was on implementing BBI fully before any talks on alliances could begin.

"Our focus is still on BBI. We want to get it out of the table, after which we can have other discussions around the 2022 elections," Mbadi said.
Both Raila and Ruto camps have warmed to each other in the recent weeks after the formation of the One Kenya Alliance.

A section of Mt Kenya leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta have hatched a plan to lock out DP Ruto from the vote-rich region.

Former MPs Peter Kenneth (Gatanga) and Elias Mbau (Maragwa) said they would form committees in each county to reduce Ruto's influence in Central Kenya.

The DP has made inroads into Mt Kenya and enjoys massive support, according to some analysts.

However, the formation of the One Kenya Alliance and the proposed creation of a new coastal party would be used to prevent the DP from consolidating his support in regional areas.
