The Sudanese government will hand Omar al-Bashir over to the International Criminal Court (ICC) along with other officials wanted over the Darfur conflict, according to a Cabinet of Ministers in a statement.

Bashir, who ruled Sudan for three decades before being deposed in 2019, faces charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.

According to state media, the “cabinet resolved to hand over wanted officials to the ICC.”

Bashir and three officials were indicted by The Hague-based court on charges, including war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity.

The handover will follow the end of Bashir’s trial on corruption and other crimes in local courts.
