KRA Sends Crucial Message to Employers Both in Kenya and Diaspora on What They are Expected to Do Before End Year

images (33).jpegKenya Revenue Authority(KRA) has urged employers to avail P9 forms to its employees soonest possible.

In a statement through its Social Media Accounts, said that the earlier the employers releases the P9 forms to employees, the better to enable them prepare for the returns filing period that kicks off as at 1st January 2023.

"Are you an employer? Before everything comes to an end this year, please remember to provide P9 to your employees for easier filing of tax returns. Let January not rush you to do something you can do now," KRA announced.

All government and private employees are expected to declare their annual incomes to KRA for accountability and reconciliation of Revenue collected within the financial period.20221220_121046.jpg

Filing of Returns for Individual income starts from 1st January to 30th July every year for all Kenyans who have registered as taxpayers, whether employed or not.

Failure to file either zero returns or income generated returns through the P9 forms according to Income Tax Act 2015 attracts a penalty of 2,000 for individuals and 20,000 for Companies, CBOs and Chamas.

Also Kenyans living in diaspora as long as they have a KRA Pin they are required to file their annual returns failure to which, the penalties applies.
