Kiambu: Man, Wife Found Dead In Their House With Gunshot Wounds In Kirigiti




A 42-year-old man from Kirigiti, Kiambu County, alongside his wife were on Tuesday evening, August 3, found dead inside their house.

Th deceased identified as Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga, a licensed firearm holder, is believed to have fatally killed his 30-year-old wife, Philomena Njeri, in her head before turning the gun on himself.



A report registered at the Kiambu Police Station at 6:01pm, under the OB Number 80/3/8/2021, revealed that Gachunga’s ally, Robert Charango Njuguna, tried to call him, but Gachunga was not taking the calls.
Njuguna explained to the security officers that Gachunga’s failure to pick the calls was “suspicious”.
“Alongside the officers from Kiambu Police line, Njuguna visited Gachunga’s house, where they noticed his bedroom door locked from the inside. The officers reportedly broke down the door and discovered Gachunga and his spouse, Philomena Njeri, dead,” reads part of the police report.



Sourced privy to the alleged incident indicated that Gachunga fatally killed his spouse before turning the firearm on himself. The 42-year-old man is said to have lost his life on the spot.
Police found a mini Glock firearm of serial number BEZA475.
The couple’s remains were taken to Kenyatta University Funeral Home, pending postmortem.
“The reason behind the mysterious deaths is not known,” Kiambu police commander Badel Mohammed explained to the press
