Kiambu Man Who Shot Wife Before Turning Gun on Self Fought a Lot with Partner, Neighbours Say

It has emerged that the relationship of the Kiambu couple where a man shot dead his wife before turning a gun on himself was always on and off. Philomena Njeri and her husband Jonathan Mukundi during their happy days.

Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga is presumed to have shot his wife, Philomena Njeri inside their house over suspected infidelity.

Following the incident, Mukundi's employees said for over 10 years the couple was together, their marriage was in turmoil as they used to fight a lot.

The workers added that the 42-year-old man, who most of the time stayed in the United States, was a lone person and would be provoked by the slightest mistake.

The couple's marriage woes worsened after Mukundi found out that his 30-year-old wife was building a five-story building without his knowledge.

The annoyed man is said to be in the plan of selling their house and had even brought people to evaluate its price. Mukundi- Njeri reunion A close friend of the deceased, who sought anonymity, hinted that Njeri deserted her matrimonial home in March.

The two later reunited on Monday after Mukundi reportedly told Njeri he had been involved in a road accident and was nursing injuries.

Njeri returned home heavily pregnant and a serious quarrel ensued over the matter as Mukundi accused her of conceiving from another man he suspected was her boyfriend.

It is during the scuffle that the man, who is a licenced gun holder, is suspected to have shot his wife before turning to himself using the same weapon.

For over ten years of being together, the couple was yet to be blessed with a child. The couple's relative said Njeri's mother had warned her of reconciling with her husband as he had become more aggressive.

Bodies discovered The victim's lifeless bodies were on Tuesday, August 3, found in their bedroom, which had been locked from inside. Mukundi's friend raised the alarm after being unreachable on his phone and reported the matter to the police.

Officers from Kiambu Police Station proceeded to his house, where they discovered their bodies lying in a pool of blood.

The officers recovered a mini Glock gun from the scene. Their bodies were moved to Kenyatta Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem
