Kenyan Pastor Based in US Charged with Forgery of Church Papers to Divert Funds

A United States based Kenyan pastor was arrested and charged with two counts of forgery and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Pastor Ismael Denis Omondi allegedly forged the constitution and meeting minutes of a rival church to divert funds to his church.

Appearing before Kwale Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido, Omondi was accused of forging Service Ministries' constitution to divert its funds to Restoration Kenya Ministries.

As reported by The Standard, the man of God was further accused of forging minutes of the Annual General Meeting to the Registrar of Societies.

The minutes were purported to have been signed by the Restoration Kenya Ministries secretary James Muthee Njau.

During the Friday, July 30 court session, Omondi pleaded not guilty to the charges and spend the weekend at Diani police station awaiting bond application.

The cleric allegedly committed the offence together with his accomplices on October 13, 2019, and since then, he has been on the police radar.
