The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has embarked on an exercise to find a suitable candidate for presidency come 2022.

The Raila Odinga-led party said it will soon run advertisements inviting people who may be interested in the top seat to tender their bids.

According to the daily, the party has resolved to hit the ground since Deputy President William Ruto who has also declared interest in the seat has been campaigning.

It has also emerged that ODM thinks President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Mt Kenya region may not add so much value in ODM’s vote basket in 2022.

“We have always done well without Central in the past elections. It will not be do or die so long as we get a few votes from the region and retain our strongholds,” said ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya.

The Kalenjin Myoot Council of Elders has endorsed Deputy President William Ruto for the top seat come 2022.

What’s more, the DP was also named the community’s spokesperson.

The elders also noted that after lengthy consultations with counterparts from the 12 subtribes, they also decided to endorse former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to join DP Ruto’s camp.

The elders dismissed Baringo Senator Gideon Moi as a political baby who is yet to mature politically.

They argued that the DP is the best pick since he joined politics in the 90s unlike Gideon who joined politics after his father Daniel Moi retired in 2002.
