DP Ruto Kicked Out of Jubilee Asili Headquarters
Deputy President William Ruto’s camp has been kicked out of Jubilee Asili headquarters in Kilimani by their new landlord.
According to reports by the Sunday Nation, the owner of the building had asked DP Ruto’s camp to leave claiming that the premise had not been licensed to host political proceedings.
The deputy president and his allies had resorted to the launch of Jubilee Asili quarters that would serve as their political nerve centre after they were banned from setting foot at the Jubilee Party’s Headquarters in Pangani.
Reports indicate that DP’s team wanted the office on Makindi Road to fill the gap created by their lack of access to the Jubilee headquarters.
The publication reported that a visit to the Kilimani offices on December 26, established that the DP’s camp had already left following the eviction and the Jubilee Asili banner had also been brought down.

According to the daily publication, there was no security guard at the gate, there were empty parking lots and deserted rooms were filled with dust, showing no recent activity at the once Jubilee Asili centre.
DP Ruto allies revealed that there had been a protracted push and pull between them and the landlord who had reportedly informed them that the house cannot be used for political activities.
They indicated that since October 2020, the landlord has been piling pressure on them to vacate the premises.
Some of the tangatanga brigades alleged that the government had been intimidating the landlord to evict the DP’s faction.

“We are tussling with the owner, the government has told the owner to throw us out and he has requested us to leave, but we are still negotiating. This drama started approximately two months ago and that is why we decided to lie low as we try to reach some agreement,” said an MP who sought anonymity.
“The landlord is in an embarrassing situation because he is being bullied by being told that a number of his things will go wrong and he has not processed the change of user. The government is using all means to frustrate our landlord and scuttle our plans for 2022. We were ready to buy the building but he has been reluctant to sell it to us…. we do not wish to reveal him,” the MP added.
The plans to have the Jubilee Asili Centre fully functional by the end of last August was reportedly set aside after some members contracted Covid-19.
