August 2022 General election will turn to be one of the most hotly contested General elections in Kenya's history.
One of the main things that made the election a unique one is a fact that a sitting deputy President allegedly absconded his duties to pursue his presidential dreams.
On the other hand, a sitting President went against his Deputy to support one of his main political rivals for the presidency but were both defeated by the Deputy.
Months after President William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza won the presidency against Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition candidate Raila Odinga, the elections heat is yet to subdue.
Speaking with Standard Publication, Jubilee Party Vice-Chairperson David Murathe has revealed why Mt. Kenya region leaders went against directives given by the then region's Kingpin former President Uhuru Kenyatta on whom to support for presidency.
According to Murathe, politicians from Mt.Kenya defiance was as a result of Uhuru's shortchanging Ruto and supporting Raila, a candidate who has never been fully accepted in the vote rich region.

He further said that politicians accused Uhuru of concentrating on infrastructure and other developmental projects and forgot to give them handouts and goodies to gain their full support.
"When the region voted for jubilee administration, they hoped to get money on their pockets but when Uhuru ascended to presidency he focused on infrastructure to create a conducive environment for business", he said.
Murathe also pointed out that Mt. Kenya residents felt that Uhuru had failed to fulfill promises he made tk them and his political allies, Ruto being one of then with the famous, 'kumi yangu na kumi ya Ruto' promise.
