Tourist dies while climbing Mt Kenya

An Irish tourist died on Thursday, January 28 while climbing Mount Kenya.

The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) confirmed the incident stating that the mountain climber developed breathing problems at around 6. am at one of the stopover.

“The Kenya Wildlife Service wishes to inform the public that at around 6.00am on Thursday, January 28, an Irish national who went mountain climbing on Mt Kenya developed some breathing problems in one of the stopovers, Australian hut,” part of the statement read.

The wildlife agency said that they immediately informed the authorities who took action and airlifted the man to Nanyuki cottage Hospital.

Unfortunately, the 40-year-old died moments after reaching at the Health facility.

“The 40-year-old male accessed Mt Kenya National Park through Naromoru gate on January, 25. Our sincere condolences to the family,” KWS added.
