The country’s top newspapers on Thursday, January 28 focused on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) as well as the increasing cases of indiscipline in schools.

One of the dailies also reported on Justice Anthony Mrima’s fate as the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) kicks off investigations on how he handled the case challenging the swearing-in of Nairobi Deputy Governor Anne Kananu.

The daily noted that the duo hardly fight for anything but strategically position themselves to benefit from other people’s sweat.


According to reports, the two are waiting to receive the endorsement of either President Uhuru Kenyatta or Raila Odinga or both.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has kicked off investigations into how High Court Judge Antony Mrima dealt with a case challenging the swearing-in of Deputy Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda.

Confirming the new development, JSC Legal Services Director Isaac Wamaasa stated that they commenced investigations into the matter after receiving complaints from Bunge la Wananchi President Henry Shitanda.

Shitanda recommended Mrima’s removal from office accusing him of being openly biased while handling the case in question.

ODM leader Raila Odinga has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to reshuffle his cabinet in order to salvage his legacy.

The Opposition leader argued that Uhuru’s cabinet is divided making it difficult for the Head of State to deliver on his promises.

Raila also took a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto accusing him of destabilising the Jubilee administration to derail the president’s agenda.

The publication reported on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts to unite the Mt Kenya region ahead of the crucial vote on BBI bill by county assemblies.

On Wednesday, January 17, the president hosted governors from the region, and he is also expected to meet other political leaders from Mt Kenya on Saturday, January 30, at the Sagana State Lounge.

Among to those invited, the main agenda of the meeting will be discussing appropriate ways of selling the BBI agenda to tame the propaganda that critics of the bill have been peddling in the area
