The publication projected the possible hiccups that could rock the Raila-Ruto alliance that has recently been the talk of the town.

According to Daily Nation, there exist several stumbling blocks that the alliance between the two could face. Ruto would lose the political base he had begun amassing in the Mt Kenya region as his allies from the region continue to prove to be non-committal on the said alliance.

However, the politicians have maintained that they could have a second thought if it happens that Raila supports Ruto in the presidency, not the other way around.

Ruto allies from the region are confident that the DP could sail through to the state house minus Raila's input. Even as the murmurs continue, there tends to be a headache if the two leaders agree on working together.

As it stands, none of the two can deputies each other, the option being one going for the top seat, while the other opting for the premiership position. Ruto's loyalists have however made it clear that the presidency is what their main man targets.

The daily also focused its radar on the scenarios surrounding the Raila-Ruto possible union. The newspaper told its readers that leaders from across the political divide had varied opinions regarding the pact that the two leaders could form in preparation for the 2022 vote.

Wrong Whereas some of the ODM party members could be ready for the union between Raila and Ruto, a host of other party members have expressed wayward opinions regarding the alliance.

ODM chairman John Mbadi stated that he had not been aware of ongoing talks between Raila and Ruto. Mbadi added that ODM would take such talks seriously after the success of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has reiterated that Ruto could be Raila's plan B should President Uhuru Kenyatta ditch him. On their part, Jubilee dismissed any reasonable impact the two would bring by coming together.

According to the ruling party, Ruto had devised strategies to disrupt planned discussions between Raila and Uhuru to salvage their handshake that has seemingly been shaky recently.

A report by the National Crimes Research Centre (NCRC) had shown that men are the main perpetrators of violence in their families. The report stated that most intimate partners' abuse had been on the rise due to the havoc caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recent abuse case was that of Police Constable Pauline Wakasa, who was shot dead by her husband, Hudson wakise, who was also a constable attached to CS Fred Matiangi's office. Psychological challenges have also been cited as one reason leading to the rise of abuse in and outside families.

The daily revealed a report by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu which showed KETRACO had awarded tenders to non-performing Spanish firms.

After getting the tenders, the firms were declared insolvent in their country, putting at state the billions KETRACO had entrusted them with.

The company was forced to terminate contracts worth KSh 25 billion awarded to the firms, namely Isolux Corsan, Instalaciones Inabensa, and India’s Jyoti Structures.

Instalaciones Inabensa had been awarded a KSh 3.6 billion contract for the construction of the Lessos-Tororo transmission line. According to The Star, the project cost had risen to KSh 8.2 billion.

The Swahili newspaper also touched on the hurdles around the much-talked-about alliance between Ruto and Raila. The publication reported that politicians from both sides had held firm stances regarding who between the two should vie for the presidency next year.

DP Ruto's allies insisted that the leader was befitting to succeed Uhuru and that they would not allow him to become second to Raila. On their part, Raila's brigade argued that the former prime minister had the experience and attributes desired of a national leader
