The country’s top newspapers on Tuesday, February 23 widely reported on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum Bill progress as well as reactions from Raila Odinga allies over his move not to support his NASA partners come 2022.
One of the dailies also reported on Deputy President William Ruto continued attack on the government over its appetite for foreign loans.

Deputy President William Ruto has continued to slam the government over huge borrowing of foreign loans, saying the loans had complicated life of Kenyans.
According to the DP most of the taxes were channelled towards servicing the loans thus causing immense suffering on the common mwananchi.
He argued that the taxes should instead be channelled to empowering Kenyans so that they can afford taxes without much struggle.

According to Suba South MP and ODM national chairman John Mbadi, Mudavadi, Kalonzo and Wetang’ula are cowards who don’t deserve Raila’s support since they deserted him when he needed them the most.
On the other hand, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire said the ODM leader will be in the ballot come 2022 and as such he cannot endorse anyone.

BBI proponents declared today a ‘Super Tuesday’ since if 12 more county assemblies pass the Bill it will proceed to the National Assembly and Senate.
Counties that are debating the bill today are Migori, Nyamira, Nyeri, Meru, Embu, Makueni, Machakos, Kirinyaga, Kitui, Garissa, Nakuru, Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Isiolo, Kakamega, Bungoma, Narok, Muranga, Nyandarua and Kilifi.
Those in public participation are Mandera, Tana River, Uasin Gushu, Nandi , Elgeyo-Marakwet, Bomet, Kericho, Marsabit, Tharaka Nithi. Wajir, Kwale and Turkana counties.
