Top 40 Signs of the Second Coming

Sign number one was mentioned in Matthew 24:33 that many false prophets and false teachers will introduce heresies, and they will unfortunately cause many persons to reject the truth of God’s Word. Today because of the influence and media attention given to pop atheists and false teachers, tragically many people are brainwashed into rejecting the Bible out of hand. It’s the case of the old adage, that if you hear a lie often enough, you’ll believe it.

The second sign is that Jesus’ Great Commission in the New Testament predicted that the Good News of forgiveness of sins and salvation through Jesus the Messiah will be preached as a witness to all nations. Did you know that the Bible or portions of the Bible have been translated into over 2,400 languages and dialects? That covers over 90% of the world’s population; and through radio and television, the Gospel is being preached to all nations. That’s why satellites are often referred to as angels. In Revelation 14: 6, John prophesied, “Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth–to every nation, tribe, language and people.”

Number 3 is perhaps the biggest sign and that is THE sign of the regathering of the nation of Israel. Many prophecies, such as Isaiah 11:11; Ezekiel chapters 37, 38 and 39 and Jesus’ own prediction in Luke 21, clearly foretold that the Jewish people would be regathered in the land of Israel in the last days. NEVER until our generation has a nation that has been dispersed to every corner of the globe, been regathered back to their ancient homeland. The Bible said Israel would become a wasteland when the Jews were expelled from their land. Indeed, during the past 1900 years, the land of Israel became a desolate wasteland. But according to a specific prophecy in Isaiah 66:8, Israel suddenly became a nation again in one day on May 14, 1948.

So…sign number 4 is that Israel is literally booming and prospering economically as a great start-up nation after laying barren for nearly two millennia–and this economic prosperity is happening while many nations are hurting economically and despite the fact that many anti-Semites are attempting to boycott Israel. But God had promised through the prophets Joel, Amos and Isaiah that Israel would plant vineyards and trees. Since 1900 more than a billion trees have been planted in Israel!

The Hebrew language is sign 5. In the 19th century the Zionist movement revived Hebrew and one man, Eliezer Ben Yehuda, wrote a modern Hebrew dictionary and newspaper and almost single-handedly revived the ancient Hebrew. It’s never happened before, that an ancient liturgical language used only in synagogues has been resurrected and is spoken on the streets of Jerusalem. Think about that!

Sign 6 is the city of Jerusalem itself. Jesus predicted that Jerusalem would once again be in Jewish lands in the last days! His disciples had asked Jesus if he would at that time restore the kingdom of David to Israel, but Jesus lamented in his Olivet Discourse in Luke 21:24 that, first the holy city would be trampled down by Gentiles… until the times of the Gentiles would be fulfilled. It has taken nearly 2,000 years for the times of the Gentiles to be fulfilled. Since 70 A.D., Jerusalem had been trampled and controlled by Gentiles ….but the Jews miraculously regained control of their capital city in 1967, in the Six-Day War. Keep your eyes upon this major sign, the sign of Jerusalem, because the nations are trying to impose their solutions upon Israel’s capital, but God says through the prophet Zechariah that Jerusalem cannot be moved. The United Nations, the Vatican, and many world leaders want to make Jerusalem an international city. However, God says that the city is His and He has given it to the Jews. Despite God’s warning, UN resolution 476 flagrantly reiterates that Israel’s claim to Jerusalem are null and void. As a result, most countries refuse to transfer their embassies to Jerusalem – Israel’s capital.

Sign 7 is the terrible sign of worldwide anti-Semitism. History confirms that the Jewish people have been persecuted like no other people group. Hitler tried to exterminate them, and the Antichrist will attempt to destroy them during the Tribulation, but he will fail because God is the Guardian of the destiny of the Jewish people. Today, anti-Semitism is a global epidemic. Over 700 General Assembly resolutions have been passed since the establishment of the United Nations and nearly 450 condemn Israel. Out of 190 nations in the UN, over 60% of all General Assembly resolutions have rebuked just one member, Israel!

Sign 8 is the sign of Psalm 83 which names all of Israel’s surrounding neighbours as united against Israel. Truly today Israel is surrounded by Muslim nations sworn to her destruction. Verse four says, “Come let us wipe them out as a nation so that the name of Israel will be remembered no more.”

Number 9 is the Bible fact that Israel is supenaturally invincible. Since 1948, tiny Israel has been attacked in three major wars and several lesser wars. Yet despite being vastly outnumbered, the Jews have defeated all their attacking foes. Even during the battle in the future, when it looks like Israel will be destroyed, the Lord promises to intervene and to save Israel.

Sign 10 is that the Bible predicted the land of Israel would be partitioned by all nations according to Joel 3:2 and Daniel 11:39. In 1947, UN Resolution 181 planned the partitioning of the Land of Israel, which God stated is really his land and it angers him that nations parted his land and continue to try to do so by attempting to create another Palestinian state.

Sign 11—keep your eyes on Jerusalem’s Eastern Gate. As a matter of fact, our ministry used to have a webcamera focused on the Eastern Gate until building construction unfortunately obliterated our view! The Bible says in Ezekiel 44: 1-3 that the Eastern Gate, sometimes called the Golden Gate, will remain closed until the Messiah returns.

Sign 12 – The Jews who return to Israel will have no king until Jesus returns, according to Hosea 3: 4-5. Indeed, Israel has been without a king for over 2500 years. Israel is not a theocracy; presently the Jewish state is governed by a democracy comprised of multiple political parties.

Sign 13 –The ancient Jewish Temple will be rebuilt. In the Bible, the prophet Daniel, Jesus the Messiah, as well as the Apostles Paul and John all refer to the temple as being a reality in the last days. The Temple Institute in Jerusalem’s Jewish Quarter has created the furniture, vessels, and priestly garments for the Third Temple. There are also several hundred young Jewish men in training for the Levitical priesthood.

Sign 14 is Iran (the Biblical nation of Persia) mentioned as one of the troublesome nations that will come against restored Israel in Ezekiel 38. According to the Koran and the Hadith, Muslims are commanded to fight non-believers in so-called holy war called jihad unless they convert to Islam.

Watch the nation of Iran as well as sign number 15, the nation of Turkey (which many scholars identify as Gomer mentioned in Ezekiel 38). Turkey will also join in the attack on Israel. In 2002, Turkey elected a pro-Islamic party to govern the country. In 2005, Hitler’s anti-Semitic manifesto Mein Kampf became a bestseller in Turkey. In 2007,

Sign 16 is the global cry for peace as predicted in the New Testament in 1 Thessalonians 5:3. Never has there been such a concerted, global effort to bring about peace at any cost but we don’t need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen.
