Workers and students at Kagumo Teachers Training College in Nyeri are in shock after the institution’s deputy principal committed suicide.
Cyrus Ndirangu reportedly took his own life by hanging himself at Mathari Consolata Hospital’s clothesline on Wednesday night.
Confirming the incident, Nyeri police commander Paul Kuria said the deceased had been rushed to the health facility on Wednesday evening after ingesting an unknown poison in his house located within the college.
“The teacher was rushed by his colleagues after ingesting an unknown poison. However, he sneaked out at night while undergoing treatment and committed suicide by hanging himself on the clothesline,” Kuria said.
Kuria said detectives are investigating the incident to establish what pushed the tutor into killing himself.
“We have already sent sleuths at the facility to investigate how he died. We are awaiting reports from our officers,” he added.
