During his 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium, Ruto said that his government was going to re-introduce Kazi Mtaani Initiative but will be undertaking new responsibilities.

The Initiative onwards will be involved in planting trees across the country with the first lot coming from 11,000 youths from Nairobi County who were under Kazi Mtaani Initiative will start their duties of greening the county starting from 1st January 2023.

The previous Kazi Mtaani was involved in ensuring that towns within the country remained clean with a major cleaning and beautification of major highways across the country.

In his aim to have 15 billion trees planted across the country, Ruto has directed administration police in collaboration with chiefs across the country to oversee the program.

He further asked governors from across the 47 counties to make sure that the program aimed at eradicating drought and addressing the climate changes issues as kicked off.
