Machakos First Couple Governor Alfred Mutua and Wife Lilian Nganga have divorced. Through a social media post, Lilian Nganga said that she was stepping down as the first Lady of Machakos county informing people that her marriage with Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua had copme to an end.
On Sunday, August 15, at about 3 pm, Ms Nganga took to her Instagram account and let her followers know that she had separated from the county boss, serving his second term, in June 2021.
“Winds of change blew my way and two months ago, I decided to end my long term relationship with Dr Alfred Mutua. We had a good run and I am forever grateful to God he brought us together. We remain friends,” part of her post read.
Confirming the separation news, Governor Mutua said that they had separated about 2 months ago after a mutual agreement. In a long post, Mutua said that the two despite separating remains friends who will continue working together to accomplish personal and county projects they had started together.
“She will be a close advisor as I Govern Machakos County and run for President because I trust her sharp insight and heart. She has always been my number one fan. Lillian has been an excellent First Lady and even though she will do some projects under the Lillian Nganga foundation, we have agreed she can continue with her county projects ” Mutua said.
Lilian further went ahead to assure Machakos county residents that she will continue with her humanitarian and charity works within the county under the "Lilian Nganga Foundation".
“With this, I put down the Machakos first lady cap and what an honour it has been to be of service I will continue to do projects close to my heart, charity work through the Lilian Nganga Foundation,” she added.
Lilian and Mutua also own a posh hotel whose name is derived from their first names initials, A&L Hotel located in Machakos town.
The two however did not disclose the reason behind their separation but indicated it was out of mutual agreement.
