The Directorate of Immigration Services and Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) have launched a passport delivery service.
The agreement that was signed on June 3, will see Kenyans countrywide get their passports delivered at their doorstep.
The Director General, Directorate of Immigration Services, Alexander Muteshi confirmed that the move is meant to improve service delivery to Kenyans.
“This is in line with the culture of continuous improvement of service delivery at the Directorate of Immigration.
We are very grateful to the postmaster general and the entire staff of Postal Corporation of Kenya for accepting our request,” stated the Director General, Alexander Muteshi.
The partnership is in line with COVID 19 measures, and is aimed at reducing congestion at the Immigration offices.
“Through this partnership, we will reduce the number of trips that passport applicants make to immigration offices to a single visit,” continued Mr. Muteshi.
The move comes barely three months after the Immigration offices announced the scaling down of operations as a measure to mitigate the spread of COVID 19.
The PCK will take charge of the delivery services, and will do so at the convenience of the applicant.
A robust communication system has been put in place to alert an applicant when the passports are ready for delivery. An SMS with instructions and a link to the postal passport delivery portal.
Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i had on May 26 instructed the Director General to ease the some of the services offered at their offices, to attract foreign investors.
