His resignation comes barely a day after Vice-chairperson Juliana Cherera and Commissioner Justus Nyang'aya fowarded their resignation to President Ruto.

In his resignation, Wanderi defended their actions and went ahead to accuse Chebukati of 'high handedness, dictatorial mannerisms and devoid of principles of good corporate governance.'

He further maintained his innocence saying that the country's interests were more superior that that of an individual.

The four commissioners have been under siege over what is being alleged by Kenya Kwanza government as a gross misconduct and acting unlawful during the 2022 August general elections after they disserted on Presidential results with IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati.

Holding a press conference at Serena Hotel, the four, Cherera, Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang'anya claimed that the presidential results being announced by Chebukati was not the actual outcome of the election.

The went ahead to say that the results were opaque, had mathematical errors and distanced themselves saying they were not responsible.

Wanderi said he was ready to help, if asked, to reform the electoral agency , including dealing with disputes in the commission and among commissioners in what he called "boardroom disputes."

Commissioner Masit is yet to Resign having appointed lawyer Donald Korir to represent her in court as they await the findings of Justice and Legal Affairs Committee(JLAC) that was to grill them but they Snubbed the summons.
