Five Kenyans displaced after fire damages home in Dracut, Massachusetts

A family of three children are this morning without a home or place to call their own, after a fire gutted their house.

This happened on Wednesday night March 10th, 2021, at 7:30Pm

As fire fighter and Dracut Police arrived at the 150 Old Meadow Road, Dracut,Massachusetts, after one of the Children call 911

The family left the house as fast they could, as some left without shoes.

Thanks to one of the neighbors who provided shoes and warm clothing to the family

The house belonged to Susan Muthee and J.P Muiruri, family of three.J.P Muiruri was away attending a weekly dialysis session only to come back and received the devastating news.

They are Kenyans from Lari Kenya have lived in that address for over three years

No one was injured in the blaze, which is under investigation, Dracut Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Mackey said from the scene shortly after firefighters subdued the flames.

“The house is a total loss,” Mackey added. “It’s still standing, but it’s a total loss.”

With the home uninhabitable, the Red Cross was contacted to help the family find shelter.

Lowell and Pelham Fire departments assisted at the scene of the blaze, while Tyngsboro and Methuen Fire departments provided station coverage for Dracut.

The JP Muiruri family is in great need of food, shelter and clothing as they lost almost everything in that fire and cold weather.

Thanks to God for protecting them, The Police, The Fire Brigade and The Red Cross for getting a place for us them to stay at a hotel for the night

We thank God no one was hurt, may need community financial support and much-needed Counseling Services to help everyone affected by the fire and loss of their home to help them get back on their feet again.
