The four quarterfinal matches, which include the match between the Portuguese national team and the Moroccan national team, will be officiated by officials, including video assistant referees, according to the announcement made by FIFA, the world's regulatory body of football.

Facundo Tello, an Argentine referee, was chosen by FIFA to oversee the game. Tello presided over the match between Portugal and Korea Republic, which Portugal lost. Two additional referees, all from Argentina, will assist him. They are Gabriel Chade and Ezequiel Brailovsky. Ivan Barton, the fourth official, is the lone non-Argentinean.images (37).jpeg

Argentina is home to two of the four Video Assistant Referees. Diego Bonfa and Mauro Vigliano are the two Argentines on the list. The other two are Armando Villarreal from the United States and Ricardo De Burgos from Spain, respectively.

On December 10, 2022, the Portuguese national team will compete against Morocco, an African team, for a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup semifinal in Qatar.
