Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba has landed a new government job, two years after he was fired from the electoral body for gross misconduct.
ICT CS Joe Mucheru announced that Chiloba had been appointed to the Youth Enterprise Development Fund as a board member for a period of three years.
Chiloba will be joining 10 other board members and is expected to fill the gap left by Joseph Mogendi who resigned in November 18, 2020, citing the fund’s “inability to serve the youth.”
“As currently constituted, the Youth Enterprise Development Fund board leadership is deficiently objective and prejudiced to serve the youth of this great country,” said Mogendi when he was resigning.
The Youth Enterprise Development Fund a state corporation under the Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Youth Affairs.
Gazetted on 8th December 2006 and then transformed into a State Corporation on 11th May 2007, the Fund is one of the flagship projects of Vision 2030, under the social pillar.

Its strategic focus is on enterprise development as a key strategy that will increase economic opportunities for, and participation by Kenyan Youth in nation building.
Angry reactions from Kenyans
It is the manner in which Chiloba exited IEBC that has elicited angry reactions from Kenyans.
He was fired from IEBC in 2018 after he was found culpable of misappropriation of taxpayers’ money in the run-up to the 2017 General Elections.
An internal audit at IEBC had pointed to a major flaw in procurement process in the run-up to the 2017 polls in which presidential election was nullified by the Supreme Court and a repeat election held.
“Mr Chiloba’s gross misconduct, breach and violations of the Commission’s Human Resource and Administration policies left the Commission with no option other than to terminate his employment,” IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati said in a statement in 2018.

Law Society of Kenya president Nelson Havi says, “I guess Ezra Chiloba was not removed for abuse of office and EACC have found him fit for re-appointment to public office after he has been born again, died and resurrected. Kenyans must wake up and whip all these clowns’ asses from top bottom & clean them away for a new beginning.”
@Honest254 opined, “EZRA CHILOBA It’s shame,it’s a disgrace to the great people of kenya.Thats why youths are joining Al-Shabaab with their degrees n masters.”
@dawn_ochieng wondered, “Ezra chiloba who was silently concentrating in his farming business after subverting the will of kenyans has made his way back to government after ICT CS appoints him as a board member of youth enterprise development fund. Just allow Ferdinand waititu to vie in peace.”

@EwotonRueben said, “Ezra Chiloba’s appointment as a member of Youth Enterprise Development Fund board is a disgrace to the Kenyan youth. Remember he was dismissed as IEBC CEO because of abuse of office, all of a sudden, he is clean and fit to hold office. Welcome to the Republic of Corruption.”
@RodgersKipembe could not fathom the fact that out of the many qualifying young people in the county, CS Joe Mucheru settled on Chiloba, “In a Country where 139,000 youths show up for a job requiring 400 slots, ICT CS Joe Mucheru, saw it wise to appoint former IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba as member of Youth Enterprise Development Fund board for 3 years.”
@Hulius_, “Ezra Chiloba alias Chilobae is now a member in Youths Enterprise Development Fund board. Nani alisema atasoma akue the greatest man alive? Itabidi umewacha shule utafute connections. We are a cartel country.”
