DUBAI AND THE CROSS

Who doesn't know these two iconic structures in Dubai? One is the Burji al Arab while the second is the famous Burji Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.
Initially, the Burji al Arab-which is a luxurious 7-star hotel-was an iconic structure that Dubai identified itself with until the Burji Khalif was officially opened in 2010. Even some car number plates had the image of Burji al Arab.
Unfortunately, cars bearing such number plates were not allowed in Saudi Arabia for a flimsy reason; the hotel has a structure that looks like a cross, the symbol of Christianity.
Apparently, the hotel bears the largest cross ever seen anywhere else. According to rumors, Tom Wright, the architect who designed the hotel, was banned from ever designing any building in Dubai because it is assumed that he cunningly included the cross in his design. This is the reason the part bearing what looks like a cross does not feature in most pictures that highlight the beauty of Burji al Arab.
Again, this part faces the sea just to welcome visitors arriving at the hotel by boat. And it also faces Mecca!
If you're wondering whether this is just a conspiracy theory or not, you need to look a little further to Burji Khalifa. From the bird's eye view, this great building appears like a symbol of the holy trinity...architects are very clever professionals!
