Bonchari MP John Oroo Oyioka is dead.

According to his family, the lawmaker died at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu on Monday, February 15.



Mourning his sudden death, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi said he will be remembered for his advocacy towards improved quality of education in the country.

Muturi also revealed that he was an active member of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research, and Technology.

“It is sadly another dark moment for us as a Parliamentary fraternity. Very sad to learn this evening that we have lost the Member of Parliament for Bonchari Constituency, the Hon. John Oroo Oyioka. My heartfelt condolences to the family &friends of the distinguished lawmaker,” wrote Muturi.
On the other hand, Kisii County Governor James Ongwae noted that it was unfortunate to mourn another Gusii leader just moments after bidding farewell to another great son of the community (Simeon Nyachae).

“My sincere condolences, thoughts, and prayers and that of entire Kisii County goes out to the family, relatives, and friends of mheshimiwa,” Ongwae said.
