Avocado Farmers to Reap Big as China Announces Plans to Expand Imports from Kenya

Kenya farmers are expected to reap big after China announced its plans to expands its fruits market in Africa and especially Kenya.
Among those expected to benefit big from the plan are Avocado farmers. Kenya is among the largest African producers and exporters of Avocados to China

Early March this year, China cleared Kenya to export fresh avocado, a departure from the previous directive that restricted exports to frozen fruits only.

“Kenya was granted market access to export the frozen avocados to China, making Kenya the first African nation to export frozen avocados to China,"said Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA), chief executive, Wilfred Marube

Also speaking during the 2022 China - Africa fruits promotion conference, China’s inspector of the department of commerce of Hunan Province, Chen Dayan, said the China is looking forward on importing more fruits from Africa.

“Innovation and best standard practices are the future of China-Africa co-operation. We look forward to importing more green, high quality African products to enhance the fruit industry,” Dayan said.
Generally, Chiina imports fruits from Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Egypt in large quantity.
