TEWKSBURY — At least 30 people were displaced from their units after a three-alarm fire tore through a three-story condominium complex on Randolph Road Sunday night.

Fire Chief Joseph Kearns said that firefighters responded to the scene around 5 p.m. and that heavy fire had destroyed the balcony of a third-floor unit by the time they arrived.

“Unfortunately the fire was going well before they got there, so it got up into the attic area and just ran across the attic,” Kearns said.
No one was injured in the blaze, though Kearns said that there was significant fire, smoke and water damage to the building.
Firefighters from Billerica and Andover assisted the Tewksbury crew at the scene.

“The crews that responded did an outstanding job,” Kearns said.

According to a tweet from the Tewksbury Police Department, the fire was mostly under control by around 7:20 p.m.

Kearns said the Red Cross is assisting the 30 to 35 residents who have been displaced.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
