Airbnb and racial discrimination.

Airbnb and racial discrimination.

Racial discrimination in Airbnb is unfortunately a persistent problem. Despite efforts by the company to address the issue, there have been numerous reports of hosts discriminating against guests on the basis of their race.
One way Airbnb has attempted to combat discrimination is by implementing an anti-discrimination policy. The policy prohibits hosts from discriminating against guests on the basis of their race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status. Hosts who violate this policy can be suspended or permanently banned from the platform.
Airbnb has also introduced several features to help prevent discrimination, such as hiding guest profile pictures until after a booking has been confirmed and using algorithms to identify and flag potentially discriminatory language in listings.
Despite these efforts, however, discrimination still occurs on the platform. Some guests have reported being denied bookings or receiving hostile treatment from hosts because of their race. In response, Airbnb has committed to continuing to improve its anti-discrimination policies and practices.
