1,318 recover as 1,183 test positive for Covid

The Ministry of Health has announced 1,183 new cases of Covid-19 from 8,144 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative case load in Kenya now stands at 213,756 and the positivity rate at 14.5%.
The youngest of the new cases is a two-month-old infant while the oldest is 98 years old.

The ministry said 1,318 patients have recovered from the disease, 1,212 from Home-Based Isolation and Care while 106 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries stand at 198,786.

Covid-19 fatalities hit 4,211 after 32 more deaths were recorded, 31 from facility record audits on diverse dates between April and August 2021, while one occurred in the last 24 hours.
A total of 1,827 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals countrywide, 8,529 of whom are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Some 135 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 60 of whom are on ventilatory support and 68 on supplemental oxygen with seven other patients under observation.

Another 609 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 573 of them in general wards and 36 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

The cases are distributed in counties as follows; Nairobi 442, Nakuru 91, Kiambu 85, Mombasa 76, Kilifi 58, Kirinyaga 46, Nyeri 44, Uasin Gishu 35, Turkana 30, Nyandarua 29, Embu 21, Kitui 19, Siaya 17, Murang’a 15, Marsabit and Kajiado 13 cases each, Busia and Makueni 12 cases each.

Kwale recorded 11 cases, Garissa 9, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Machakos, Narok, Nandi and Taita Taveta 7 cases each, Bomet, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Homa Bay and Kisumu 5 cases each, Isiolo, Wajir and Tharaka Nithi 4 cases each, Laikipia, Mandera, West Pokot and Meru 2 cases each.

Samburu, Tana River, Vihiga and Baringo recorded a case each.
