Arsenal Manager and Coach Martial Arteta yester night gave a statement after the 2-0 defeat by Chelsea. Arteta looked back on the match and affirmed their second defeat which according to him was very tough to bear with. He further said that Chelsea deserved to win as they were better side overall.

Looking back at the game, Arteta said that Arsenal had moments at the start of the first half and at the beginning of the second half where Arsenal conceded and started managing the game the way they wished to. Chelsea proved why they are the champions of the Champions League.

Arteta applauded his team for not giving up despite them being beaten two goals down. He further apologised to the fans citing that they had planned to give them something special by defeating Chelsea but it did not turn as they had planned.

What I liked about the team is that at 2-0 they never gave up, they tried right up to 90 minutes. With our limitations, because at the moment we are missing eight or nine players. I'm sad, sad for the fans because we really wanted to give them something special today. Even though we know the circumstances we have with the team at the moment, and not being able to do that and enjoy this moment with them is sad,” Arteta said.

Talking on the issue of injuries at the team, Arteta said that they are trying to manage the situation indicating that this was the first time in history of the club they are playing with probably unprecedented team.

He thanked Arsenal fans for rallying behind the team despite the humiliation at home area.

“It was incredible, I think they really tried, they really wanted to push the team. Right from the beginning they were right behind them. At the end in the second half they were trying to push us and give us energy that we needed. And of course there is disappointment, we are here to win football matches, and we can't expect anything different,” Arteta added.

Arteta has promised his fans that he and his players will try all the best to win the forthcoming match against Manchester City by bring back the players hopes and moods towards winning. According to him, the players are currently demoralized and hurt and all they needed was help to get back to their feet.

Despite Rwandan President Paul Kagame being on his back over the defeats, Arteta assured its fans that they were going to work hand to make sure that they win their coming matches.

“They don't need motivating. Honestly, they are really together, one thing they don't need is motivating. That is really clear, they are really trying what they can do. Give them confidence, that is what they need”.
